How far in advance do I need to reach out in order to book my order?
Usually three weeks is the perfect time frame for me to receive your order, gather the necessary ingredients or decorating materials, bake and decorate your sweet treat by your deadline.
Need your order in less than three weeks? No problem! Reach out to me anyway, I take last-minute orders (schedule permitting) but a last-minute fee will apply.

What does the ordering process look like?
Reach out to me on my contact page, fill out the details of your order, and submit it! Once I receive it, I will reach back out to you on your preferred method of contact to ask follow up questions or give you a quote. The more details you provide, the easier it is for me to give you a quote! My schedule runs on a first-come-first-serve basis and your order will not be confirmed until I receive prepayment in full.

What is the difference between buttercream frosting and royal icing?
Buttercream frosting is a soft, butter-based icing that sets up but does not harden completely after airdrying. I usually compare my buttercream frosting to your grandma’s holiday cookie frosting (if it’s good)! I only work with buttercream frosting because I believe that it has a higher-quality taste and I can replicate just about any design (with my own twist and decorating style).
Royal icing is usually made from powdered sugar, egg whites (or meringue powder), and water. This specific icing hardens to a candy-like texture allowing for a smoother finish and sometimes smaller detail capability. I do not work with royal icing because it is more time consuming and does not taste as good as buttercream (in my opinion).

What desserts do you offer?
I offer custom buttercream sugar cookies as well as custom small cakes (smash cake size or those that feed 12-16 people) in a variety of flavors. Cupcakes and drop cookies (such as chocolate chip or snickerdoodle cookies) are also available upon request for a cost-effective addition to your order.

Do you have a food handler's license?
Because Sweet Pieces by Natalie is a home-based bakery, Kansas Department of Agriculture’s cottage food law does not require me (or other home-based bakers) to have a food handler’s license.
With that being said, I have experience in a commercial kitchen setting where I learned how to practice commercial-grade sanitation in my own kitchen.
